Does your bar move? Are you changing your level of expectation?

Us humans are complicated species. Some of us always want MORE. Do you remember the first bar you set when commencing your fitness journey? Likelihood is now that bar you set has been smashed and you have suddenly set the bar to a whopping new level which is miles apart from the one you set when you started?
Did you take a minute and successfully praise yourself for hitting that first bar or did you feel demoralised because your no where near the bar you now have in site?
I’m all about goal setting, goal setting is something I enforce with all my clients but I think it’s important to try and have a handle on where your bar is and try to not push that bar up every 5 minutes. Leave some time to give yourself the gratitude and praise you deserve for hitting where you wanted to hit before moving on and seeking another adventure.
Example: You set yourself a goal of dropping 8lbs in 12 weeks for your annual holiday. You successfully loose the 8lbs and instead of going on holiday with the ‘YESSSSS I SMASHED IT’ attitude your instead sat on the beach thinking about how much more you can loose…. That bar your now trying to set is MILES away from the bar you set 12 weeks ago.
Keep your bar in line with your level of expectation and don’t forget to give yourself the praise you deserve.
